Demolition will soon begin on 1.2 acres on Austin’s Red River Street, within University of Texas’ University Medical Center Brackenridge. Replacing the current three-story property will be a 17-story office building, which will be the flagship of Austin’s Innovation District. The district is an initiative of Central Health, University of Texas-Austin and Ascension Seton, along with Downtown Austin Alliance and Opportunity Austin.
The structure, owned by Central Health (Travis County’s health care district) is scheduled for an early 2022 completion. The building will house some of UT’s Dell Medical School operations, along with other tenants. Part of the development will include a proposed straightening of Red River Street through the downtown property.
