Downtown San Antonio property vacated when the Alamo Colleges District relocated its headquarters to Government Hill is now in the hands of Alamo Community Group (ACG), a nonprofit, local affordable housing organization. With the dust settled on the 1.25-acre property at 811 W. Houston St., the new owner is ready to move ahead with Cattleman Square Lofts, a 170-unit affordable apartment complex.
The development is scheduled to begin leasing in November 2021, and will be made available to families earning less than 30%, 50%, 60% and 80% of the area median income. ACG is working with Sage Group on designs and a site plan for the property, as well as how to incorporate an historic building — Cattleman Square — that will remain on the property. Furthermore, because the development will be downtown, AGC is in discussions with VIA Metropolitan Transit about potentially making Cattleman Square Lofts part of a transit-oriented development.
