$306M Expansion Planned at Fort Myers Medical Center

Register for Connect Healthcare on November 8th at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa

Lee Health is planning a $306-million expansion of Gulf Coast Medical Center in south Fort Myers, FL, a move designed to accommodate a new regional trauma center and expand capacity. Three additional stories are envisioned to be added, encompassing 367,000 square feet of new space.

The Gulf Coast hospital is located at Metro and Daniels parkways, and has become one of Southwest Florida’s busiest hospitals, especially during peak winter and spring season months. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2021.

The addition of 268 new patient beds will bring the total number of beds to 624. The region’s trauma center will be relocated from Lee Memorial Hospital near downtown Fort Myers to the Gulf Coast facility, which will receive an expanded radiology department, pharmacy and clinical laboratory, as well as new dialysis treatment and cardiology units.
