London-based Time Out Market plans to open a two-story, 30,000-square-foot food hall in Chicago’s Fulton Market district. The vision is to redevelop the site at 914-926 W. Fulton Market into a similar venue as Time Out successfully introduced in Lisbon, Portugal in 2014 (pictured).
Time Out publishes entertainment magazines and websites, and uses the food halls to expand its brand awareness. That has evolved into a new business in which the company leases large retail spaces in “great foodie destinations” and offers stalls to bars, restaurants and stores.
The Fulton Market site is owned by Chicago developer L3 Capital, and a fund of LaSalle Investment Management, which acquired it for $14.5 million last October. The building is near Google’s Midwest HQ, McDonald’s future HQ and Randolph’s restaurant row, in a neighborhood undergoing transformation.
