$35M Solar-Powered MXU Facility Opens

A $35-million technologically-advanced mixed-use facility opened on a roughly 4-acre site in Ladera Ranch, CA. The 120,000-square-foot complex encompasses the Ladera Sports Center, a 63,000-square-foot gymnasium, a 42,000-square-foot self storage facility and more than 15,000 square feet of office space.

SmartStop Asset Management’s H. Michael Schwartz, which designed, financed and owns the facility, says the Ladera Sports Center is an elite air-conditioned training center for athletes in south Orange County that may have had long commutes to facilities in central and north Orange County.

The facility has eight basketball and volleyball courts, webcast-enabled cameras, noise reduction systems, superior wood flooring, ample spectator seats, 300 parking spaces, a student study room, free Wi-Fi and a café serving healthy snacks and drinks.
