40-Story East Village Residential Tower Approved

Liberty National Corp.’s proposed Park and Broadway multifamily development received an approval from Civic San Diego’s design committee, the downtown’s planning agency. The 613-unit East Village complex is envisioned for two low-rise buildings, one six stories and another seven stories, as well as a 40-story tower.

The San Diego-based developer wants to build on a site at Park Boulevard and Broadway. The buildings will be separated by green space to avoid an earthquake fault that runs through the center.

The development, at 400 feet, would be one of the tallest residential towers in San Diego. The developer hopes to secure final approvals within the next year. Plans also include 18,852-square-feet of commercial space and 634 parking spaces.

Liberty National Corp. is also proposing another 40-story tower on the south side of B Street in the East Village.
