The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents approved a $90-million construction budget for the system’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo, TX. Construction is underway on the 185,000-square-foot, two story building, which is on the north side of the Texas Tech University Health Science Center campus on Coulter Street.
The building is under development to address the need for rural and large-animal veterinarians, especially in small, regional and agricultural communities throughout Texas. The schools is expected to enroll its first class in Fall, 2021.
The school will offer two learning wings, with the east wing consisting of classrooms, breakout rooms and office suites. The west wing will provide laboratory and research spaces, along with surgery sweets, housing for small animals and support rooms for anatomy and pathology instruction.
