Faced by slower user growth and recent layoffs, Twitter is reportedly seeking to sublease a floor of prime San Francisco office space at its headquarters at 1355 Market Street. The exact amount of space is unknown, but floor plates at the building are about 80,000 square feet, and Twitter occupies 760,000 square feet.
Last fall, CEO Jack Dorsey scrapped the company’s plans to lease an additional 100,000 square feet at 1455 Market, where his other firm, Square Inc. resides, in an effort to “focus” the company.
Twitter declined to discuss the latest reduction rumors. The tech giant is ranked by the Business Times as the 10th largest employer in San Francisco, and the second-largest tech employer.
