Advent Health New Smyrna Beach has acquired a 103-acre site on the northeast side of State Road 44 and Interstate-95 in New Smyrna Beach, directly across from the AdventHealth Medical Plaza. The sales price was $16.5 million, according to various media outlets.

Plans for the property were not announced, but the hospital’s CEO Dennis Hernandez did say that the purchase of the site will not impact the existing hospital at 401 Palmetto St. or its operations.

“Southeast Volusia County is a rapidly growing community, and while we have no immediate plans for this land, we anticipate adding a mix of healthcare services to this location within the coming years,” said Hernandez. “We remain steadfastly committed to serving the community, and since joining the AdventHealth family in 2016, we have made significant investments in renovating the hospital’s emergency department and updating the interior and exterior of the building.”

In 2019, New Smyrna Beach hospital received an A rating from the Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that issues letter grades to hospitals based on safety and quality. The hospital was previously D-rated.
