AECOM Proposes 246-Acre Development for Red Hook, NY

Engineering and construction company AECOM has proposed a 246-acre waterfront residential development in Brooklyn’s Red Hook area. AECOM envisioned the project as at least twice the size of Battery Park City, and nearly nine times the size of the 28-acre Hudson Yards development.

The plan calls for up to 45,000 units, along with 45 million square feet of new development, six miles of neighborhood infrastructure improvements, 100 acres of parks and 11,250 affordable units. The development would also include 80 acres currently owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Funding, logistical and cost specifics are not yet in place, though AECOM indicated that outside funding sources would be necessary for the project.
