The West Coast’s largest carrier, Alaska Airlines, opened The Hub, a six-story, 128,000-square-foot office building near Sea-Tac Airport. The 6.8-acre corporate campus-themed workplace can accommodate roughly 600 Alaska employees in technology, System Operations Control and other key functions.
The Sea-Tac-based airline commenced construction two years ago after it bought the property in January 2018 for $32 million. The facility includes an 820-space parking garage complex, landscaped pathways, an Alaska Airlines merchandise store and a center where employees can get uniforms fitted. Several additional buildings are planned as part of a long-term plan.
The space is needed to accommodate the airlines’ significant growth over the past several years. The Hub is expected to improve collaboration by bringing together frontline employees and management.
