Plans appear to be in the works for Amazon to build a customer fulfillment center on a large tract of vacant land in far East El Paso County, the El Paso Times reported.

Developer Hillwood has filed a registration document with the state for a 2.6-million-square-foot facility known as Project William. Although Amazon isn’t identified as the tenant on the registration document, and Amazon declined to comment, the El Paso Times quoted an official with a national construction company that submitted a bid to be the general contractor for the proposed construction of an Amazon fulfillment center.

Further, Jobe Materials, a large concrete supplier in El Paso, plans to put a temporary concrete batch plant on land where the proposed Amazon facility is to be built to supply concrete for the project. The company has applied for a state air quality permit to operate the plant.
