Amazon’s New $100M Salem Facility Completed

A new more than $100-million Amazon packing and shipping center in southeast Salem’s Mill Creek Corporate Center is now completed. The e-commerce company is gearing up to hire 1,000 workers for the one-million-square-foot facility at 4775 Depot Court SE.

The project is a collaboration between the city and state that’s resulted in a 600-acre, master-planned corporate, industrial campus along I-5.  Amazon’s Salem facility is eligible to receive upwards of $3.7 million in tax incentives over three years, as part of an economic development agreement.

The Seattle-based company, which has three planned Oregon fulfillment centers, will use the Salem facility to serve more Oregon customers, rather than from its Northern California operations. A smaller Troutdale center distributes smaller items, such as batteries. Another planned distribution center in Portland is similar in size to Salem, though has not yet opened. It will focus on serving customers in the Portland-Vancouver area.
