Since 2013, Amazon’s completed eight leases in the Inland Empire that’s resulted in a massive expansion of 7.2 million square feet. Amazon’s Southwest footprint now stands at nearly 12 million square feet.
Transwestern created a robust info-graphic depicting Amazon’s rapid fulfillment facilities growth.
Transwestern’s Michael Soto explains how Amazon’s growth has impacted the Inland Empire: “Over the past decade as online retail sales (e-commerce) and Amazon’s capture of that market has grown. It is no surprise that Amazon’s industrial real estate footprint in the Southwest has grown significantly as well, in order to adequately serve the nearly 30 million consumers in that part of the country. As e-commerce continues to grow, expect Amazon to continue to invest in newer and larger fulfillment centers close to major population centers in order to meet the demand of consumers who are increasingly expecting next-day and same-day delivery.”
