Apple Inc. is finally establishing a new office outside of Cupertino, primarily seen as a recruiting endeavor. The tech giant is reportedly taking space in San Francisco at CBS Interactive’s building at 235 Second St.in the SoMa district.
The deal could work out to roughly 76,000 square feet, enough space to accommodate 500 employees by late summer. The move is expected to help Apple to remain competitive with other tech companies, especially those who’ve opened satellite offices in the City.
Recruiters say it is becoming increasingly difficult to convince top talent to make a 90-minute trek down the Peninsula to Cupertino. Apple’s current workforce includes 14 percent who call San Francisco home.
