Arizona Business Owners Stand Against Opening Too Soon

More than 400 small business owners in Arizona have signed a petition at Too Soon Arizona indicating they don’t plan to open their business until experts and research shows it is safe to do so. The movement to remain locked-down gained steam in recent weeks as Arizona Governor Doug Ducey began reopening up the state’s economy.

Salons and barbershops were allowed to reopen on May 8th, and dining rooms were allowed to open beginning on May 11th. Those businesses still must follow state COVID-19 safety guidelines.

A statement on the website where businesses could sign the letter read: “The intention of Too Soon Arizona is to provide a voice for independently-owned businesses who feel it is too soon to reopen indoor public spaces. Too Soon Arizona wants business owners to feel supported and be able to let their guests know why they are not opening their doors at this time.”

A review of the business owners who’d signed the open letter showed the majority were in the Tucson market, though there were a scattering of companies listed from across Arizona including in Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale.
