Athletic Conference Quits East Coast for Dallas

The American Athletic Conference (The American) signed a long-term, 18,000 square foot lease at The Summit at Las Colinas in Irving. The collegiate athletic organization will relocate this summer from Providence, RI, its home since 1979, when it was formerly known as the Big East Conference.

“We have enjoyed our time in Providence, but with the current geographical composition and footprint of our league, Dallas is a better fit for us and our institutions,” said Mike Aresco, commissioner for The American. “Our headquarters will be located in a major market and closer to many of our schools.”

The 375,706-square-foot Summit at Las Colinas is part of the 12,000-acre master planned residential and business Las Colinas community.

JLL’s Conor McCarthy and Jeremy McGown represented The American in the transaction. James Esquivel and Ahnie Sheehy, also with JLL, handled the negotiations on behalf of landlord Gemini Rosemont.
