Austin ISD Wants More from its Properties

The Austin Independent School District is putting 10 of its properties up for sale, lease or other type of arrangement. The organization hired Southwest Strategies Group, led by Danny Roth, to handle brokerage and marketing services for the 10 properties, which include an administrative building, land parcels and even an opera house.

The purpose is to generate different types of qualified bids that can boost value to the district and/or school community. The district board has also expressed interest in potential public-private and non-profit partnerships that can expand student offerings, support efforts to increase affordable housing, and provide a one-time, or recurring revenue stream.

A pre-bid conference will take place at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Allan Center at 4900 Gonzalez St. Property tours will begin Oct. 20. The deadline for offers is Dec. 14.
