Baltimore’s Axxella Snags NE Ohio Sports Training Complex

The Spire Institute Sports Complex in Geneva, OH has traded to Baltimore-based Axxella for an undisclosed sum. Colliers International Cleveland’s Mark Abood and Brian Hurtuk represented the seller, which had invested more than $100 million into the 177-acre sports and training facility, among the world’s largest.

“The possibilities that come with SPIRE Institute are endless,” said Abood, who began marketing the property with Hurtuk six months ago. “Much like the owners and developers, we wanted to think much bigger. We were not surprised when we received interest from beyond our borders, because of the uniqueness of the facility.”

Axxella plans to greatly expand the sports complex through development of 100 acres of adjacent land, advancement of existing programming and introduction of new and creative uses for the campus. “We recognize the importance of this complex to northeast Ohio,” said Jonathan Ehrenfeld, Axxella CEO.
