Barkan Management Company recently added The Vendome in Boston’s historic Back Bay to its growing management portfolio of luxury condominiums. The firm’s Peter Westhaver will oversee the management of the community, and Andrew Hughes will oversee the day-to-day operations.

A mixed-use condominium, The Vendome has a total of 138 units, including 111 residences and 27 commercial/office units. Built as a luxury hotel in 1872, it was the first commercial building in Back Bay and one of the first hotels in the U.S. to have electric lighting. After a fire in the early 1970s, The Vendome was rebuilt and re-opened in 1975 as one of the first condo properties in Massachsuetts.

“The Vendome is one of Boston’s most elegant and stately buildings in terms of architecture and design, and also one of the city’s most luxurious condominiums,” said Bill DiSchino, president and CEO of Barkan.
