The Barracks Hotel Breathes New Life into Historic Former Naval Training Center

A trio of San Diego-based entities, McMillin LLC, Untitled Hospitality and NTC Foundation, envision creating a specialty arts-focused hotel in the nearly 100-year-old historic Naval Training Center buildings at Liberty Station in Point Loma, CA. The Barracks Hotel is a $20-million, more than 90-room property slated to join the waterfront urban neighborhood in late 2018.

Liberty Station’s newly branded Arts District will be embraced through an ambitious union of art and hospitality. Construction on four barracks buildings, three officer’s quarters and a former steam pump house slated for historic preservation will begin next year.

Untitled Hospitality’s Robert Cartwright says, “We’re taking an unconventional approach in reviving Liberty Station’s deep-rooted history. We believe the best way to honor the past is to make it personally relevant in the present.”
