Groundbreaking has taken place at Pete Rose’s “Hit King” Baseball Academy, at 4256 Hit King Pkwy. (Farm-to-Market 2855) in the far-west Houston suburb of Katy, TX.
Johnny Johnson, a former player with the Cincinnati Reds and chairman and CEO of Hit King, said the 20,000-square-foot facility will cost between $11 million and $14 million to build, and is scheduled for a spring 2017 opening. Amenities will include four field turf baseball fields, an indoor training facility and batting cages, a film and meeting room, locker rooms and a golf driving range.
Johnson will operate the facility with Ryan Baker and Derek Hurley, also former baseball players.
