Big Lots Inc. has entered into a lease agreement to relocate its corporate headquarters to Hamilton Quarter, a new, mixed-use development in Columbus OH. The 15-year lease focuses on the development of a new, four-story building, situated on approximately 25 acres. The move-in date is targeted for late 2018.
The discount retailer currently operates from 300 Phillipi Rd., a property on Columbus’ west side that is more than 50 years old. Though the company had invested capital into renovating the current headquarters, David Campisi, Big Lots’ CEO and president, made it clear that the company had outgrown the space.
The 320-acre Hamilton Quarter, at Hamilton Road and Route 161, is being developed through a joint venture of CASTO, The Daimler Group and The New Albany Company. The Big Lots building will be the first property developed on the site. The deal includes an option for Big Lots to purchase the asset.
