Affordable housing developer Blue Sky Communities has broken ground on Sandpiper Place, a $20-million, 92-unit affordable housing community in Bradenton.

Located at 26th St. W, the community will consist of several garden-style buildings, a clubhouse, pool and playground for families. The community is targeted towards working families and will offer a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units. Rental rates are scheduled to range from $399 to $1,277 per month. The maximum income for a four-person family will be $45,900.

The Manatee County Government provided $354,000 in initial investment, with additional funding possible this summer. The project is slated to be move-in ready by next summer.
