Boston Properties Proposes First Oakland Tower

Boston Properties proposed a 402-unit residential tower for Parcel B at MacArthur Transit Village, a mixed-use, multi-phased transit-oriented development in North Oakland, CA. The Boston-based REIT’s 25-story project would be its first in the East Bay city.

The project includes 45 affordable units, as well as 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 260 parking spaces. The site, next to the MacArthur BART station, is controlled by BART and MacArthur Transit Community partners.

The latest plan presented this week for design review is significantly larger than Boston Properties’ previous proposal, including a height increase from 80 feet to 260 feet. The building is located in the emerging Temescal neighborhood, that’s primarily comprised of single-family homes and mid-rise buildings.
