Invitations arrived this week in media inboxes for an Apple Inc. event at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Sept. 7th. That date fittingly aligns with the anticipated release of the next version of Apple’s popular smartphone, the iPhone 7.
Announcing a product refresh in time for the run-up to the Holiday Season is critical for the tech company, since iPhones generate roughly two-thirds of Apple’s sales. Consumers are upgrading devices less frequently, and that’s helped drive revenue down so far this year.
In addition to an improved dual-lens camera, the upgraded handset is expected to include a re-engineered home button that vibrates when pressure is applied, and the removal of the headphone jack. A new Apple Watch is rumored to integrate GPS-based location tracking.
