In 2015, the city of Cedar Park, TX, acquired the 215-acre Lime Creek Quarry from the city of Austin for $4.1 million. Now, Cedar Park is examining options for the acreage on Anderson Mill Road, near Whitestone Boulevard, when Ranger Excavating concludes blasts on the property in 2023.
To that end, the city selected Perkins & Will Inc. to develop a feasibility study on how Lime Creek Quarry can be redeveloped and re-used. The global design firm is being paid $150,000 for the study, which is estimated to take seven to nine months to complete.
“These studies are extremely important because we’re setting the foundation of what’s going to happen moving forward,” Cedar Park Council Member Michael Guevara said at a recent council meeting.
