Cape Cod Healthcare has broken ground on a new six-story patient tower at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. The expansion is expected to cost $180 million.
The project will upgrade the cancer and cardiology programs, and increase the number of beds from 259 to 299. It will also include the development of a fully-integrated single electronic medical records system, a rooftop garden, outdoor patios and 30 chemotherapy bays with eventual space for as many as 48.
“We planned this with the very thought that for 98 or 99 percent of the time, all of your healthcare needs can be met right here on Cape Cod, and that’s what our vision and mission is and our commitment to our community,” said Michael Lauf, CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare. “We want to be here when our community needs us most.”
