This week, members on both sides of the Congressional aisle shared their support of a bipartisan resolution for Los Angeles to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which adds to the support of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti met with members of Congress to share a House resolution, which will face all of Congress for approval in upcoming weeks. Although the resolution does not address funding for the Games, Congress will reportedly discuss that matter at a later date.
Joining in on the announcement was bid committee chair, Casey Wasserman, who said, “To us, LA 2024 is an opportunity to welcome the world back to America for a celebration of unity and humanity in the new Los Angeles.”
