Carlyle’s 196-Unit Oakland Project Moves Forward

Carlyle Group is backing Wood Partners’ in a 196-unit residential project in Oakland’s Broadway-Valdez district. The Washington, DC-based private equity firm and Atlanta-based developer are moving forward with ground-breaking plans by the end of the month at 2302 Valdez St.

The development team is expecting to receive a building permit this week on a project that was approved in April 2015, and also includes roughly 31,000 square feet of retail space.

The Broadway-Valdez district has become attractive to developers since the city passed a 2014 Specific Plan that expedites entitlements, if projects conform to the city’s new housing and retail vision for the area.
