Methodist Healthcare of San Antonio is finalizing plans to develop a full-service hospital and multi-story 100,000-square-foot medical office building, that will contain an ambulatory surgery center. The facility, tentatively dubbed Methodist Hospital Westover Hills, will be developed on San Antonio’s far west side, on 70 acres the system acquired in 2006. Methodist Healthcare CEO Allen Harrison told the San Antonio Business Journal that the hospital size and design are still being worked through.
The office portion of the project is estimated to take about 24 months to develop, though it’s not certain when construction will commence. Costs for the two projects have not yet been disclosed.
The healthcare system recently opened a smaller emergency facility in the same area, at 5528 W. Loop 1604. Harrison told the SABJ that Methodist will study options for that facility in the years to come, especially in light of the proposed hospital.
