Following his panel discussion at Connect Silicon Valley that honored San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 130th year in business, Connect Media caught up with the Chamber’s President and CEO, Matthew Mahood:
According to Mahood, although the overall economy will undoubtedly slow down relative to its recent pace, Silicon Valley and San Jose’s local economy is still on the rise. Construction trades will hold on to full employment through 2018, and the Internet of Things is the region’s poster child, as innovation continues to be born from the tech capital.
As for affordable housing, Mahood agrees that buildings must go vertical, because sprawled space is obsolete. He says we will see high rises beginning to dominate the area, and an increased population with business growth will follow.
