Approximately two and one-half years after the idea of a convention center and hotel was introduced, the city of Odessa, TX, local company Official Enterprises, and Gatehouse Capital of Dallas launched construction on the project.
Specifically, the $79 million development on Texas Street will include a seven-story, 218-room Marriott Hotel, with a 67,500-square-foot convention center, and a 365-space parking garage in downtown Odessa. Other features will include a full-service Starbucks, and refurbishment of the Ector Theater, which dates back to the 1950s.
Construction is expected to last approximately 18 months. The Gatehouse development team includes general contractor UEB Builders, architect RTKL, hotel operator Aimbridge Hospitality, hotel brand Marriott Hotels and Resorts, structural engineer DCI and interior designer Duncan Miller Ullman.
