South Texas Health System (STHS) tore down the former North Point Surgery Center at 4702 McColl in Edinburg, TX, through a “demo day.” During the day, hospital representatives and elected officials took a sledge hammer to the surgery center, which will make way for an STHS emergency room. When the emergency room opens in spring 2018, it will represent the eighth such building for the healthcare system.
Upon completion, the facility will offer nine treatment spaces, such as six exam rooms, and three ultrasound, X-ray and digital radiography areas. Also included will be an on-site laboratory. All satellite ERs treat general emergency cases on an outpatient basis, and can handle trauma and observation care for up to 24 hours.
