Connect Media’s Retail West event on March 16th in DTLA will explore how the strong labor market, low inflation and an upswing in housing could fuel economic growth in the coming months, if U.S. consumers continue to spend freely.
Consumer confidence boosted sales at both brick-n-mortar stores and online retailers last month, as indicated by a new retail report by Marcus & Millichap. Total retail sales jumped 3.4 percent in the 12 months ending in January, despite “inclement weather and post-holiday doldrums.”
The Commerce Dept. reported retail sales rose 0.2% in January, matching forecasts, as Amazon.com and other online retailers reported accelerating year-over-year growth.
