Could Round Rock Grow by 114 Acres?

The city of Round Rock, north of Austin, will begin the annexation process of a 114-acre plot known as the Hickerson-Keith, which is in the northern part of the city. The land is situated in Williamson County. The first step is scheduled to take place on Aug. 10, 2017, when the city will host a public hearing on the proposed annexation.

Land that surrounds Round Rock is subject to agricultural tax exemptions. The owners of the land entered into development agreements with the city, stating that, if development takes place on the land, Round Rock can annex it. However, owners of the Hickerson-Keith tract refused the agreement, triggering an involuntary annexation process.
