County Claims 51 Acres for $28M, Plans Otay Mesa Emergency Center

The County of San Diego purchased 51 acres in Otay Mesa for $27.7 million with plans to develop an Emergency Vehicle Operation Center. Los Angeles-based Kearny Real Estate was the seller.

Located at Alta Road and Otay Mesa Road, the site is comprised of three finished industrial lots. The new facility will be used for driver training by San Diego police and fire personnel, and be shared by the Sheriff’s, City and Community College District.

CBRE’s Rob Hixson, who represented the seller, says, “This transaction marked big wins for both the County of San Diego and Kearny Real Estate. The County has long needed a permanent Emergency Vehicle Operation Center to train its personnel. This new facility will replace the interim, makeshift skills track they had been using in Mission Valley for the last several years.” He also notes the sale will allow Kearny to move forward on selling 300 additional acres it owns in East Otay Mesa.
