The Crystal City Business Improvement District received formal approval from the Arlington County Board to change its name to the National Landing BID.
The BID’s membership is expected to sign off on the name change in June, the Washington Business Journal reported.
“We are grateful to the Arlington County Board for its ongoing support of our efforts to expand the BID’s reach and foster a more cohesive identity for the interconnected portions of Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard,” said Tracy Sayegh Gabriel, executive director of the BID.
The name National Landing was created by JBG Smith Properties Inc., Arlington Economic Development, and Alexandria Economic Development Partnership as a way to pitch the region to Amazon during its year-long hunt for a second headquarters.
Last September, the BID won approval from the county board to extend its borders into Pentagon City and Potomac Yard, expanding its footprint by 76%.
