Boston Properties, Rudin Development and WeWork joined city officials and the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation Tuesday to launch the Dock 72 office building at Brooklyn Navy Yard. The 675,000-square-foot project is Brooklyn’s first ground-up commercial development in more than a decade.
“Brooklyn and specifically the Brooklyn Navy Yard are at the forefront of New York City’s growing tech scene,” said Michael Rudin, partner at Rudin Development. “We created the building of the future to provide companies with the type of infrastructure that will help them attract talent and grow their businesses. In Dock 72, we saw an amazing opportunity to give Brooklyn’s emerging markets a place to work, grow, and innovate.”
Dock 72’s opening comes as the Navy Yard undergoes a $1-billion expansion, its largest since World War II. The Yard also recently announced a $2.5-billion master plan that would bring the total number of jobs there to 30,000.
