Construction activities in the Rio Grande Valley city of Edinburg, TX totaled $140 million from January-April 2017, according to information from the Edinburg Economic Development Corp. The year-to-date figure continues outperforming the 2016 pace, when total construction for the first four months was $82.1 million.
During the month of April 2017 (the most recent figures available), Edinburg’s construction permits totaled $23.1 million. Multifamily projects and single-family houses took the lion’s share of the permitting, at $11.8 million and $6.3 million, respectively.
In other news, construction is underway on an $8.6-million, freestanding emergency room, which will be part of the South Texas Health System. The ER is at the corner of Monte Cristo Road and Interstate 69 in Edinburg, and will be completed by the end of 2017.
