Michael Dixson, who heads Prestige Development Group, unveiled plans for The Gateway, a 550,000-square-foot, 20-acre mixed-use center in east central El Paso. The development, at 6767 Gateway West Blvd., is anticipated to cost more than $50 million to build, with buildout completed by 2023. Construction is anticipated to begin in January 2020.
Plans call for four buildings with retail and restaurants fronting Interstate 10, as well as two, three-story office buildings also offering ground-floor retail. Also in the plan are two hotels, parking, and an eight-to-10-story building with apartments on several top floors.
The local developer acquired the land for $11 million in May 2019, from Magellan Midstream Partners. Several large, out-of-operation fuel storage tanks were on the site; most have been demolished.
