Elon Musk’s Neuralink Corp., a startup focused on creating brain implants to treat neurological issues, has posted a job opening on its website for a “head of construction” in Austin, the Austin Business Journal reported. If the position is filled, this would mark the fourth of Musk’s companies to put roots down in Texas: Tesla, SpaceX and the Boring Company have or soon will have facilities here.
Several sources told the Austin Business Journal they heard Neuralink has been looking for space in the Austin area. However, it’s unclear if the company plans to construct its own facility immediately or if it’s looking for a short-term lease.
The construction-related job posting outlines that whomever is chosen will join the company’s facilities team with work in both Austin and Fremont, CA, where Neuralink is based. It doesn’t specify the size or location of any facility that may be built, though.
