Expanding Bakery Chain Signs Up for First Harlem Store

Thor Equities Group has leased 1,300 square feet at 17 W. 125th St. in Central Harlem to Insomnia Cookies. The expanding bakery chain signed a long-term deal to open its first Harlem store on the ground level of the pre-war residential and retail building.

Joseph Sitt, chairman of Thor Equities, noted that Central Harlem is “continuing its transformation into a popular retail district, as well as a world-class art, cultural and entertainment destination.” Whole Foods and TJ Maxx are located nearby, and a new Bed, Bath & Beyond and WeWork space is directly adjacent to 17 W. 125th.

Located between Fifth and Lenox avenues, the five-story, 46,200-square foot 17 W. 125th contains 49 rental units and more than 9,000 square feet of retail. Additional tenants at the property include Harlem Wine and Spirits, Buffalo Boss, and My Wellness Solutions.
