Facebook is expanding its data center facility in Los Lunas, NM with the addition of a second $250-million, 460,000-square-foot building, bringing the total square footage at the site to 980,000 square feet. Construction commenced on the facility’s first building near Albuquerque in October 2016.
The first building is expected to come online serving traffic in late 2018, while the second building is anticipated to deliver in 2020. The additional building will be one of the most advanced and energy efficient data center facilities in the world.
It will the latest in OCP server, storage, and network designs. The facility will also be powered with 100% clean and renewable energy, as part of a renewable energy tariff designed and implemented with the Public Service Company of New Mexico.
