Work began Feb. 9 on the first multifamily new construction in over a decade in the West End neighborhood of Bridgeport, CT.
“The Cherry Street Lofts will act as a catalyst to restore retail in the community,” said Gary Flocco, managing partner for developer Corvus Capital Partners. The redevelopment will create 157 new apartment units in the old American Gramophone Company factory buildings, which was built in the 1800s on Cherry Street, alongside the Interstate 95 highway.
The AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) is investing $35 million in the $54 million development.
