Flynn Departs Top Oakland Post for Lennar’s $6B Concord Base Redev

Lennar Corp.’s FivePoint lured Rachel Flynn away from Oakland, CA’s planning and building department to a key role leading the $6-billion Concord Naval Base redevelopment. Flynn took over the city’s top position overseeing development projects in 2013, and the market subsequently took off with historic levels of price growth, development and investment.

Flynn, a former architect, will start her new role next month, leading the massive 12,000-acre project for the powerful Bay Area developer.

The project is approved for up to six million square feet of CRE development, and 12,000 units of housing over the coming decades. It is the Bay Area’s largest single development.

Lennar and its divisions’ active Bay Area projects include Treasure Island, the Hunters Point Shipyard, and Fremont’s Warm Springs BART station, as well as multifamily projects in downtown Oakland.
