With a view toward increasing the pool of qualified talent in a field where demand is outpacing supply, the Fordham Real Estate Institute (REI) has launched a Graduate Certificate in Construction program. It’s designed for those who are currently working in areas such as project management, architecture, engineering and development.
“The core program teaches students areas of the business, such as financing and insuring projects, and the graduate certificate will teach the fundamental skills of building, which is where we’re seeing a gap in knowledge,” said Christopher Mills, COO with Plaza Construction and member of REI’s Executive Advisory Council.
The 15-credit program will also feature tracks on specialized legal, planning, financial, procurement, risk management and project management skills that are required in today’s construction industry.
According to Construction Labor Contractors, the construction industry will experience one of the largest increases in real output, reaching almost $1.2 trillion by next year.
