Former Armory to Become College Building

Trinity Valley Community College and the city of Athens, TX, reached an agreement for the college to acquire a former National Guard Armory and property called Central Park.

As part of the agreement, the college will lease the front part of the Armory, and repurpose it into part of the campus. Specifically, the building will be converted into a fitness center and meeting space. Central Park will be used for future expansion.

The armory, at 610 S. Prairieville St., currently houses Athens’ Development Services and Emergency Operations Centers. A new building is being constructed for these city’s departments. TVCC will spend approximately $8 million to renovate and repurpose the facility, and will provide scholarships to students in the area.
