Former Motorola Campus Heads to Auction

Ten-X has partnered with Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle to auction Motorola’s former regional headquarters in Harvard, IL. The 1.5-million-square-foot Motorola campus has been vacant since 2003.

The auction will take place from April 18-20, with the starting bid at $2.7 million. JLL began marketing the site shortly after Miami-based Optima International purchased it for $16.8 million in 2008. Optima stopped paying maintenance and property taxes around 2014, with a private equity group in Chicago finally securing a tax lien on the asset.

The campus is situated on 325 acres at 2001 N. Division. Charles Eldredge, executive director of the Harvard Economic Corp., hopes the outcome is a user that will “fill the building and bring employment to Harvard.” Harvard is approximately seven miles south of the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
