Former New York City Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen has launched MSquared, a nationwide real estate development and investment platform that will create mixed-use, mixed-income projects in America’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions. The Lower Manhattan-based company will work with local governments, developers and investors to build projects incorporating a mix of uses.

“MSquared addresses the growing need for cost-effective and quality housing for our essential workers, as well as the need to create affordable spaces for the small businesses, creative companies, manufacturers, artists and non-profits that make cities vibrant and successful,” said Glen, MSquared’s founder and managing principal.

She added that a point of differentiation for MSquared will be its focus on mixed-income housing, rather than emphasizing low-income or high-end development.

Glen also previously served as head of Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group. She’s joined by principal Carolee Fink, who most recently served as Chief of Staff in the Deputy Mayor’s office.
